How's this for unexpected?

There will likely be a need to mess with the domain name of your email address. 
Although you may not be informed by your system administrator, your server will 
get changed (maybe several times till they get it right) to identify you as 
someone slightly different. For instance, you are now [email protected], 
but this could be changed to [email protected].

Both addresses would work for receiving email (for a while), but listservers 
like ours would reject your post attempts since it would no longer recognize 
your identity. This type of problem would affect every email user who is 
subscribed to closed lists. And the list admins (who get unhappy emails about 
why somebody's access has been denied)!

Uhhh, just speaking from my (not exactly neutral) perspective.  ;-)
