It is my understanding that: LVD: Concerned only with the issue of product safety to protect the end user from electrical, mechanical, chemical harm. EMCD: Concerned only with the issue of emissions/immunity to protect the EUT from other equipment and to protect other equipment from the EUT in regards to electromagnetic harm or interference. TTED: Concerned only with the issue of protecting the telephone line from harm by the EUT connecting to it. Even if the equipment (for some reason) does not use but has the capability/option of being connected to an leased line, it must pass the TTED. Actually, it must pass all 3 of the above directives. So the TTED is mandatory. You also may not self declare to the TTED as Mr. Wrigley has pointed. Regards, Doug
