About the Microsoft Hardware group:  The Microsoft Hardware group's products
include computer peripherals such as mice, keyboards, joysticks, gamepads,
speakers, robot toys (using RF transmitter technology) and other computer
devices and add-ons.

The Microsoft Hardware Test group acts as a design assurance group that
investigates, analyzes and tests a myriad of technologies and products to
help mitigate the risks associated with the development and manufacture of
various Microsoft hardware products.

the positions available.


EMC ENGINEER
(HARDWARE TEST)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

1.      Develop EMC test plan for PC Input Devices designed for world market
2.      Implement/ execute/coordinate  test plans throughout the development
cycle
3.      Analyze PC Input Devices design to influence design for
Electromagnetic Compliance 
4.      Participate in specification review and design review of new product
designs

QUALIFICATIONS

1.      BSEE with minimum 3 years experience in EMC Standards ( IEC, FCC, EN
etc ), Regulations (CE, FCC, etc. ) and Testing is necessary
2.      Highly motivated individual with strong Project Orientation and
Communication skill required
3.      2-3 years experience in Hardware design is preferable
4.      Familiarity with Safety Standards, Regulations and Agencies will be
a plus
5.      NARTE  EMC certification will be a plus

SAFETY ENGINEER
(HARDWARE TEST)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

1.      Develop Safety test plan for PC Input Devices designed for world
market

Compliance

RELIABILITY ENGINEER
(HARDWARE TEST)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

1.      Analyze product Design and Specification for complex electrical /
electromechanical products from Reliability and Risk Mitigation perspective
using physics of failure approach.
2.      Prepare and execute Reliability test plan as analyzed above using
modern methods such as HALT, STRIEF, RET etc.
3.      Facilitate efficient Root-cause analysis and Corrective action
following test findings.
4.      Report and communicate results. Advice possible design solutions and
support re-design efforts.
5.      Develop manufacturing ESS and On going activities
6.      Evaluate, assist, manage third party development and or
manufacturing reliability engineering activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

1.      BS in Electrical Engineering or  Applied Physics with minimum 5
years of relevant experience
                Required
2.      Experience in Physics of Failure analysis and Highly Accelerated
test methodologies necessary
3.      Highly motivated and project oriented individual preferable
4.      Excellent communication skills preferable
5.      International travel required 


HARDWARE TEST ENGINEER
(HARDWARE TEST - MOUSE GROUP)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

As the test representative on the development team, hardware Test Engineer
is responsible for Design Verification and Design Assurance activities of PC
Input Devices. The activities include,
1.      Development of composite Test Plan (Schedule, Procedure etc.)
covering different stages of product design cycle (viz. EVT, DVT,
Qualification, Manufacturing Test and ESS etc.)
2.      Implementation and execution of the test plan (EVT, DVT, and
Qualification stages). This involves (a) performing Functional testing and
Compatibility testing, (b) Coordinating Reliability, EMC and Safety testing
done through Reliability and EMC groups (c) Identify requirements for test
tools (Software and Hardware). Work with Tools group and Manufacturing Test
Engineer in developing Test tool specs, Tool Vendor qualification etc.
Approval of test tools.
3.      Develop Test Plan for manufacturing including ESS. Work with
Manufacturing Test Engineer and Tools group in qualification of Tool vendor,
approval of tools etc.
4.      Participate in Specification reviews.
5.      Participate in Design reviews.


QUALIFICATIONS

1.      BSEE with 5 years experience in hardware design and/or hardware test
environment required. MSEE preferable. Experience in similar/comparable
product, as PC Input Devices, is preferable.
2.      Familiarity with PS/2, USB interfaces is desirable.
3.      Familiarity with Safety standards (UL, TUV), EMC testing,
Reliability testing is a plus.
4.      Highly motivated individual with strong project orientation and
communication skill preferred.
5.      Capability to analyze hardware and firmware designs with an
orientation to identify design risks will be a great plus. 


MANUFACTURING TEST ENGINEER
(HARDWARE TEST - MOUSE GROUP)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

1.      Identify and influence DFM & DFT features desirable to be
implemented in product design.
                Manufacturing engineer will bring the knowledge of
manufacturing processes (general and specific to our Manufacturing Partners)
to the Design Team and work closely with Design Engineers. Through these
opportunities Manufacturing Engineer will continuously help to educate
design engineers on good practices and standards that effect DFM &DFT.
                (DFM - Design for Manufactureability, DFT - Design for
Testability)

2.      Responsible for Specification, Procurement, and Maintenance of
custom Functional Test Tools used for product development purposes.
        Manufacturing engineer will bring mechanical design knowledge to the
test team and work closely with Hardware Test engineer (electrical) and the
Tools Group (Software/Firmware) to meet this responsibility.

3.   Responsible for Specification, Tool Vendor Search/Qualification, Vendor
management and Approval of Functional TestTools used for manufacturing
purposes.
        Manufacturing engineer needs to work closely with Hardware
Operations to meet this responsibility.


QUALIFICATIONS

1.      BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering with 5 years experience
in high volume electronic product manufacturing required.  
2.      Basic Electrical Engineering foundation is desirable.
3.      Knowledge of a programming language is a plus.
4.      Must be willing to travel.
5.      Highly motivated and project oriented individual will be preferred.
