If you want to track major safety incidents that are more than one-of-a-kind, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website is a good place to start. Go to www.cpsc.gov, click on Recalls, click on catagorized by topic, and click on the category of interest.
Products making the CPSC list are those that exhibited design defects leading to multiple cases of exposed hazards, leading to official recalls. Virtually any electrical product can result in a few potential safety incidents with thousands of units in use. To my knowledge, there is no way for anyone to track these kinds of incidents as they are typically investigated and resolved on a per case basis by the manufacturer, i.e. they do not become true public knowledge. The only electrical product I recall in recent years that did result in both injuries and property damage was the coffee brewers that lacked adequate thermal cutoff design, and burned down some homes. This was widely reported in the media and resulted ina CPSC recall notice.
