Just a few EMC "stories" about firewire. We use an 10m long firewire between two parts of one of our products. The female connectors had to be improved for ground connection by small metal "clips" which both reduced HF emission and improved immunity for fast transient according to EN 61000-4-4 (capacitiv clamp).
The ground/shield connection between male and female connectors turned out to be poor after the cables had been connected and disconnected arround 50 times. We didn't see other problems than these, data transmission is OK at 200MHz. Best regards, Mr. Kim Boll Jensen ScanView A/S Denmark
