Good Day All: I have come across a question and I hope some of you have had some experience in this area that you could share with me.
We have been looking at two different PCI bus interconnect systems. There is the "edgecard" system where the mother board receptacle mates to pads on the edge of the circuit board, and there is the "compact" system in which a mating connector is mounted to the circuit board and it connects to the mother board receptacle. Does anyone have any information regarding the relative reliability of these two systems ? Is one better than the other ? I realize that reliability is not directly related to the scope of this forum, but the long term reliability of these connections can result in safety concerns if they are not reliable (depending on their failure mode).
