My copy of BS EN 60950, issue 4, January 1998 is entitled " Safety of information technology equipment, including electrical business equipment". >From your description, Nick, I'm not convinced that your alarm bell box falls within the scope of 60950 either. Unfortunately, none of the other spec lists that I have looked at on various web sites seem to cover your application.
