IN THE NEWS:

PHANTOM MENACE RETURNS TO THEATERS: Can't wait for the next Star Wars
prequel? Perhaps the re-release of Episode I - The Phantom Menace will
satisfy your hunger. The flick is returning to theaters Dec. 3 to 9, and
every dollar collected will go to local
charities. "We thought it would be a great opportunity to help local causes
and a wonderful way to end the Star Wars theatrical run," says a LucasFilm
honcho. The one-week box-office proceeds will not be added to Phantom
Menace's total gross.

RICHARD SIMMONS MEETS HIS MAKER: Richard Simmons, the man who taught us to
move, groove and lose, is himself a loser in the world of TV. The exercise
guru's low-rated syndicated show, Richard Simmons' Dreammaker, leaves the
airwaves Jan. 14. "I have certainly enjoyed my time with Dreammaker and
being a part of enriching so many people's lives, but I have slowly comes to
realize that the show has placed far too many time constraints on my already
hectic... schedule," Simmons said in a statement. "I have decided to move on
- returning instead to my daily mission of tending to the dire needs of the
country's ever-growing obese population."

WHERE THERE'S A WILL...: Can we talk? Joan Rivers might want to ask that
question of an eBay user who was auctioning off a copy of her late husband
Edgar Rosenberg's last will and testament. The document, which is dated Nov.
11, 1974, sold for $55.99 Friday night. Rosenberg committed suicide in 1986
shortly after Fox canceled Rivers's late-night talk show.

'70S SHOW REELS IN THE YEARS: Fox's That '70s Show will be seen well into
the 2000s, Variety reports. Fox picked up the sitcom for two more years,
securing its place on the network's schedule through 2002. "This is a show
on the rise," Fox Entertainment president Doug Herzog said in a statement.
