This is just a modification of an existing scheme, the CSA mark with
"NRTL/C" under it. The old "NRTL" and new "US" designations are both
indications of the same thing: CSA's status as an NRTL with OSHA, and
the use of the applicable US standards (in other words UL standards) in
the evaluation of the product by CSA.
CSA pounded the pavement diligently to get agreements in place with as
many of the thousands of US jurisdictions as they could (after all, OSHA
accreditation doesn't imply local acceptance), and they seem to have
succeeded. We have been using this CSA/NRTL system for years, and have
not had any jurisdiction reject it. We have had a bit of customer
education to do ("Where's the UL mark?!"), but CSA can provide some
information sheets to help that along.
