Mike,

I agree with you and I too have chosen to not respond. I also understand
why a marketing company would not want their client information to be
released until after the survey was completed.

If I were Pepsi, doing a survey between Coke and Pepsi, I would not want you
to know whom I represent until after you have given me the information I am
after. If I did tell you whom I was representing before the survey, my data
would be corrupted. As Scientists, you can all understand data collection
techniques and how to get good data vs. bad. If I remember correctly, there
was a similar string about a Prof. who had corrupt data yet published the
results as reliable.

I have chosen to not take the survey for many reasons, one is the fear of
getting on yet another junk mailing list; another is the idea of giving out
proprietary information. The lists of good reasons to not take the survey
are endless.

I wish this marketing company well, I think you will probably have to find a
different avenue.

Good Luck,

Kevin

Nice try, I still won't give out information related to the operation of my
business unless I know exactly where it is going and to whom it is going.
This request presumes that we have implicit trust simply because we are
members of a specific group. WRONG !!!. If the "WHO - WHAT - WHY is
disclosed I would consider disclosing any non-propriety information that may
help the EMC industry. Beyond that I chose not to participate in blind
surveys.

Wow. Tough audience. We're sorry if our request seemed so unreasonable,
but we were told that this e-mail list may be a friendly way to obtain
good input from a wide variety of people in the industry. Here is the
basic scoop on the situation.

We are a research firm that has been contracted by a group (still
ambiguous, we know), who wishes to remain anonymous at this time, to do a
short study of some current trends and aspects of the compliance testing
industry.

We apologize for any ambiguity that this may present. However, as
mentioned in our initial e-mail, we are looking for only as many people
as would feel free and open to share their opinions. If you are
uncomfortable about any items that may be presented in our survey, you
may leave that section blank. If you do not feel comfortable about the
entire concept, then we kindly ask that you do not respond at all.
Again, this is in no way a solicitation of any kind. NO ONE will contact
you regarding your response!

Thank you,

G. Perry
