Hi Derek Sorry, but I feel compelled to provide another point of view-about US products failing! I came to the US more than 30 years ago and quickly subscribed to Consumer Reports, which I always use as a guide to buy just about any appliance. Perhaps, as a consequence, I have had a totally different experience regarding reliability! For example, I still use a TV (sometimes) and a fridge (constant use) that are more than 20 years old! Even my newer appliances such as washing machine etc are at least 10 years old. Probably only the coffee maker has been replaced about every 6-7 years, but they are so cheap...!!
