Hi Folks

The following UK organisation runs 1-2 day courses on IEC 61508 and related
PES, and issues a number of guides

According to their recent literature, the next course is on 4 May and then
again in October.

I have been on one of these courses and they are not bad (if a little "heavy"
at times!)

Regards

John Allen

FYI as a lot of people who subscribe to the US-based Regulatory Compliance
Information Centre (RCIC - URL rcic.com) forums seem to be interested in this
type of course.

I'm not aware of any specific training on IEC61508. This standard,
Functional Safety: Safety Related Systems, is usually covered by courses
on Safety Critical Software. The University of Queensland is one
organisation that conducts these in Australia.

I'm sure there must be similar courses in the US. One word of warning is
that only parts 1, 3, 4 and 5 have been published; parts 2, 6 and 7 are
expected to be formalised later this year. The Standards Australia
IT/15-15 committee is currently working on a local guideline for the
application if IEC61508.

I hope this helps...
