1) In order to see ESD type events, a minimum of 500MHz scope(like
Tek7805/7905) is required with storage capability or a digital storage
scope (Tek SCD 500 or better). I'm surprized that you saw anything at
all with a 1MHz scope!

2) Humidity plays a large role in the generation of charge. I
reccomend less than 20% for good results.
