Section 4.5 (Lightning and Power Cross Immunity Criteria) of GR-1089-CORE
states that lightning and power cross tests are to be applied to
"telecommunications ports". It then defines "telecommunications ports" as
"paired-cable interfaces to other equipment in a telecommunications network
(such as T and R lead, sleeve leads, E&M leads)."

Ethernet interfaces are neither paired-cable interfaces nor fit the
descriptions of included leads.

Subject: Lightning tests on Ethernet ports

I am interested in finding out what lightning requirements exist on
Ethernet ports located on both CO and Network equipment. Also, if
anyone has done any testing on these ports, I would be interested in the
test methods and results. Thank you.
