Hi All, For those of you who like to tinker in the lab (and sometimes we have to when the right equipment is not available), this month's Technical Tidbit (at http://www.dsmith.org near bottom of index page) describes how to make a shielded magnetic probe out of common materials (no semi-rigid coax needed). Such a probe is useful in many signal integrity and EMC investigations. Some uses for such probes are discussed in the paper on the site at
http://www.dsmith.org/pdf/emc99-w.pdf titled "Signal and Noise Measurement Techniques Using Magnetic Field Probes." Last month's Technical Tidbit showed how to measure ESD induced interference inside of equipment using a magnetic field probe.
