Dave -

You don't mention a product standard, but assuming product safety under the
60950 variants, be certain to select a device compliant with the relevant
sections of IEC60730-1 (nee: IEC730-1), if derivation of a limited power
source is important to the application. This is, of course, in addition to
UL Recognition.

We supply -48V to each card in our shelf, each having their own DC-DC
converter. Each card also has an on-board fuse, we are thinking about going
to PTCs instead.

The values range from 0.75A to 5A. I've seen devices from Bourns Inc. and
Littelfuse.

Anyone have any recommendations/suggestions?

Thanks,
