Hello Scott, Your posting to emc-pstc on July 12, 2000 was forwarded to me. In this posting you asked John Juhasz: > John, > I read an article some time ago regarding the use of a spectrum > analyzer equipped with a tracking generator to explore near-field > resonances in cables, etc. A near-field probe (loop) was used in > conjunction with an inexpensive (Mini_Circuits) combiner to explore > RF Immunity issues. I think the author was working at H-P when he > wrote the article. Sorry I can't remember where the article was > published. This sounds like an article I published some time ago: "Finding EMI Resonances in Structures," EMC TEST & DESIGN, Vol. 3, No. 1, Jan/Feb 1992, pp. 25-28. However, this magazine is no longer in publication, so you will have to find a library that kept the back issues. Alternately, you might try looking at this article, available on the Web: "Bench-Top EMC Techniques for Medical Equipment," Medical Device & Diagnostic Industry (magazine), Vol 20, No 1, January 1998, pp. 135-138. http://www.devicelink.com/mddi/archive/98/01/025.html This article was focused specifically at engineers working in the medical device industry, but it included a discussion of the struc- tural resonance technique.
