As an addendum to your analysis of product safety standards,
I am sure you have heard:
"Success comes from experience.
Experience comes from failure."
Most people who rose to great heights in their field sufferred
major failures along the way. I have read that Michael Jordan
did not "make" his junior high school basketball team.
How does the electric light story go? One of Thomas Edison's
assistants complained that they had already tried nearly 1000
designs without success. Edison replied that they had not
yet tried the new design he proposed. Maybe someone has a
more accurate account of this.
