Interesting . . . my home PC (Pentium 133) crashed and I went out and bought an 'e-machine' (Celeron 533) from Circuit City and it came with the Star Office installed , I had never heard of it before . . . seems to be OK . . . haven't had time to really check it out, and it looks like it opens all the MS files and then some . . .
just thought I'd mention it . . . Star Office is an Office suite by SUN Microsystems, and can be downloaded from their site at: http://www.sun.com/products/staroffice/ I've been using Lotus Smart Suite until recently, but since they don't support Linux, and Star Office does ( amongst many other operating systems ), I'm now a convert.... Let me know how you go on. While I've changed, the "big" company I work for is still stuck with MS office.. Any data I can collect to encourage them to change is VERY welcome Best regards, Derek. ------------------------------------------- This message is from the IEEE EMC Society Product Safety Technical Committee emc-pstc discussion list.
