Robert, I have a catalog of UL standards (published by UL) that is from January 1999 and it does not list a UL 1697. It skips from 1694 to 1699 so it is probably a typo. It also is not in the list of proposed standards. The current list of UL standards, including the scopes of the standards, is available on the UL website at http://ulstandardsinfonet.ul.com.
