It is not a UL standard at this time, but it is called "Subject 1697"
written by UL. It borrows requirements from UL1950 and elsewhere. Randy
Ivans at UL Melville has been leading the Ad Hoc committee and can give you
the latest status. 1697 covers power-passing cable TV taps and telco
Network Interface Units, etc..

Robert,

I have a catalog of UL standards (published by UL) that is from January 1999
and it does not list a UL 1697. It skips from 1694 to 1699 so it is probably
a typo. It also is not in the list of proposed standards. The current list
of UL standards, including the scopes of the standards, is available on the
UL website at http://ulstandardsinfonet.ul.com.

        Forumites,

        UL1697.

Anyone ever heard of it? It has shown up in a recent design spec for
quotation and I suspect a typo.
