Plugs and sockets for domestic use are excluded from the scope of the
LVD and therefore cannot be CE marked. This means that the obligation
to provide free access to their internal market does not apply. The
Germans are (regretfully) free to do as they please on this one.
The UK does the same, except the DTI who authorise the approval
bodies under the Plugs and Sockets regulations are a bit unclear as
to who is currently on their list (I know, I asked them!)
Regards
Nick.

Hello All,
We (in Australia) have a European plug that has acceptance from OVE,
Kema, Cebec, Demko, Semko, Nemko and UTE, but we have been told by
the European customer we need VDE to sell into Germany. I would have
thought that any of the above approvals would satisfy the German
requirements. Can someone tell me what the situation is here? The
plug is to be moulded to a cord that does have VDE acceptance.
