Hi all

I have been asked to find the appropriate standards (safety only) for Europe
for testing a mains operated piece of equipment which is used to control and
monitor th eoperation of a high voltage (10kV or more) overhead line.

The function of the unit is to monitor the voltage and power of the
transmission line. It is also used to send signals (I believe radio) to an
external relay which can isolate sections of the line for maintenance.

The equipment is in a metal box and is mounted on the pole supporting the
line.

I believe IEC 61010-1 will cover the safety requirements for the unit
itself. Also there will be requirements for ingress protection from IEC 529.

I am trying to find if there is a standard which covers equipment used to
control high voltage lines in this situation. Obviously there must be
requirements to mount the equipment a certain distance from the lines. There
is also a major safety hazard if the unit doesnt function correctly.

Can anyone help with any thoughts on this.

Thanks
