Friends,

Have any of you tested CCTV components to the alarm systems standards? We
are currently "digesting" the requirements of 50132-2-1 for black and white
cameras. I am more familiar with EMC measurement techniques than with
light-lab measurement techniques; unfortunately this standard deals more in
the latter as a requirement for compliance associated with the EMC testing.
I would like to know if you found the following clauses "straight forward"
or if they required some interpretation on your part:

6.3.5 camera sensitivity at maximum gain
6.8 black level
4.6 limiting resolution

My issues are as follows:

6.3.5 -- If you do not have a manual AGC circuit, how do you establish max
gain? How do you define sensitivity?

6.8 -- What kind of image is used to create a black reference of between 2
and 20%? What is varied to achieve 2%, then 20%?

4.6 -- What is the definition of limiting resolution? Is that where the
image is no longer discernable in low light? The clause states "if"
resolution limit occurs at low light . . . would not all cameras limit at
low light?

As you can see, I am an amateur in this area. Any help would be
appreciated.

Kind regards,

Don Umbdenstock
