A friend asked that I post the following: Roger Volgstadt Clarent in Redwood City, California has an opening for a Hardware Certification Manager. This person will be responsible for assuring that all Clarent products have the required certifications/licenses and/or regulatory documentation to enable world wide product shipment. The successful candidate for this position will be required to have significant knowledge of hardware regulatory standards and certification requirements along with hardware product assurance techniques, methodologies, testing and processes. This person will work closely with Product Marketing and the Homologation Manager to develop and implement the corporate product regulatory/certification strategy. Additionally, this person will be responsible for assisting in setting up and coordinating product assessment testing to determine specific product characteristics. Some specific duties to be performed are: · Oversee product testing ensuring Safety/EMI compliance · Work with NRTL's assuring correct country certifications · Stay informed on future regulatory requirements that will be applied to new product designs · Assist in developing corporate Homologation strategy · Familiarity with NEBS compliance standards to be used as guidance in new product designs · Knowledge of environmental testing processes/methodologies for overseeing testing activities · Knowledge of mechanical shock and vibration testing and shipping packaging evaluation to supply guidance/consultation · Knowledge of reliability characterization ( MTBF/MTTR) to lead efforts to develop and gather data for reporting Requirements: · Bachelor's degree ( Master's preferred) in Engineering or the Sciences or equivalent combination of related experience · 5 years experience in hardware engineering disciplines in product regulatory certification or hardware product assurance · Program Management experience · Working knowledge with Safety and EMI Certification Standards · Familiarity with National and International Telco Standards · Supplier Management experience strongly preferred · Excellent communication ( verbal and written ) skills for high level presentations and customer interfacing · Leadership ability · Some travel is required Interested persons should contact the following: John Reynolds [email protected] Tel: (650) 481 - 3128 ------------------------------------------- This message is from the IEEE EMC Society Product Safety Technical Committee emc-pstc discussion list.
