Hi Enci:
The materials you mention, NOMEX aramid paper and
phenolic are suitable materials for your application.
For your application, I suggest the material be rated
VTM-1 or better. VTM means Very Thin Material, and is
a UL designation for the material flame rating.
I also suggest the material be a minimum of 0.4 mm
thick. This qualifies it as either supplementary
insulation or reinforced insulation, depending on your
specific construction. (From your description, you
will need the insulation to play either one or the
other role.)
To find a UK supplier, you can go to the UL web site:
http://www.ul.com/
Then, go to the UL IQ for Plastics. This is a search
engine for plastic materials in the UL data base.
Unfortunately, it does not have the capability for
searching by country. But, you can search for VTM-1,
0.4 mm, material type, and come up with a list of
manufacturers. You may be able to identify a UK
manufacturer from that list.
On the other hand, a lot of the VTM manufacturers have
a presence in most countries, although they may not
have manufacturing in most countries. From the UL list,
you should be able to identify a manufacturer that has
a presence in the U.K. and that you would be willing
to work with.
Good luck, and best regards,
Rich
