Santo, To follow up on the second half of the question that Jim answered, in Colorado the voltage level requirements are quite realistic. At low humidity, like we get here in the winter, 10kV discharges are not that far out on the probability curve. If I remember correctly, in a study at HP in Loveland in the late 70's, one sigma in a carpeted room in the winter was close to 6kV.
You know the humidity is low when you start developing and involuntary flinch as you reach for your car's door handle! ;-} Best regards, Brent DeWitt Datex-Ohmeda Louisville, CO -----Original Message----- From: owner-emc-p...@majordomo.ieee.org [mailto:owner-emc-p...@majordomo.ieee.org]On Behalf Of Jim Conrad Sent: Tuesday, July 31, 2001 9:16 PM To: Sandy Mazzola; emc-p...@ieee.org; emc-p...@majordomo.ieee.org Subject: RE: EN 61000-4-2 ESD Requirements Hi Santo, You didn't say what type of products you are making but for Medical Electrical Equipment complying with the 2nd ED of 60601-1-2 it will be 8 kV air and 6 kV contact. Also any editorial comment on whether the current requirements are realistic would also be appreciated.
