I have found some use for the PAG's - I have a subscription the the on-line PAG's.
A few of them I have found usefull, most of them I have taken the time to look up have shed no more light than reading the standard itself. I have gotten my monies worth out of the few that have been usefull, but I think the PAG's could be better. -----Original Message----- From: Peter Merguerian [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, May 17, 2001 3:17 PM To: 'Brian O'Connell '; '[email protected] ' Subject: RE: UL P.A.G. Hello Brian, My personal opinion is that PAGs (Practical Application Guidelines) are not required if the standard is clear on its requirements. Isn't it enough that you are paying heavily for a standard? In the same way that you do not need a second book when you read the Scriptures, you also do not need a PAG when you read the standard. I have purchased the UL 1950 PAG and it is getting to be "dusty"! There are some guidelines in there which could be useful (example: ac fuses in dc circuits) but I think it would be better if UL put the PAG online and we could choose and pay for the PAGs which are useful to us. Better yet, PAGs should be put on-line for free by the various test agencies to promote their businesses. Best Regards, PETER S. MERGUERIAN ITL (Product Testing) Ltd. I would welcome opinions on the usefulness of a subscription to the UL Practical Application Guidelines. I speak only for myself. thnx mucho Brian ------------------------------------------- This message is from the IEEE EMC Society Product Safety Technical Committee emc-pstc discussion list.
