I believe they are Class D because of the huge quantities of these products in circulation. I kind of makes sense, millions and millions of PCs and televisions hooked up to the mains are going to cause far more harmonics havoc than a low volume product such as an HP harmonics analyser (because nobody uses them anymore because the software is out of date) - sorry, couldn't resist it....
