Hi group,
We have a products which is DC powered via an external AC/DC adaptors.
We purchase these AC/DC adaptor from vendors. The AC/DC adaptors has
obtained T-Mark certification. The product are bundled with these AC/DC
adaptors and sold in Japan.
Got to know that from 1 April 2001 onwards, T-Mark will be replaced by a
new mark. Not sure of the term used of this mark, I call it PSE mark. (P
S E within a diamond box). This new safety requirement / scheme is new
and I hope someone in the group provide some advice on it.
Some of my questions are
1) Can our AC/DC adaptor vendor submit application for this PSE mark? If
not can they appoint a local Agent to submit application on their
behalf?
2) Or must the applicant be our Japan branch company/importer? (We do
not sell AC/DC adaptor, but bundle it with our products)
3) If application is only possible by a local company, what documents
are required from the AC/DC adaptor vendor in order to submit the
application?
4) Do our Japan branch company/importer in Japan need to setup any test
facilities? Or is there a need of inspection at their office? If yes,
will it be conducted by MITI or JET/JQA/others?
5) Can AC/DC adaptor bearing T-Mark be able to ship in Japan after April
1, 2001? Is there any grace period in which T-Mark is still applicable?
How many years is T-Mark certificate valid, 3 or 5 years?
6) How is this PSE mark enforced? Is it checking/enforced at custom or
retail outlet? What is the penalty if product caught not bearing this
PSE mark after April?
7) Upon grant of this PSE mark/approval, what information is to be
printed on the AC/DC adaptor? Is there an approval number to be affixed
onto the product?
8) Do anyone have any good website that I can browse through to
understand this new Japan safety requirement?
Regards
Koh
