Dear Jeffrey, new regulations will come in effects next year, probably as soon as January 2002 - if the corresponding law will be approved without delays. They will offer the possibility for manufacturer to self-declare the conformity of their products. the label to be put on the products consists of the BSMI logo + the company ID number, just like in Australia (C-Tick + ID number). there is also the possibility for exhibition, testing, etc... to apply for entry without certification, but I have not seen the details of this procedure. Still, you will have to apply it to the BSMI and wait for their approval. In this case, it may be more efficient to directly register your company at the BSMI. Once you will get your company ID number, you will then be able to self-declare conformity and put the label. this ID number would eventually serve next time.
