Hi all, First some facts:
An agreement on mutual recognition between EU and US with the EMC field exists. http://europa.eu.int/comm/trade/pdf/0713mra-usen.pdf List of approved conformity assessment bodies (CAB) designated by the EU Member States: http://europa.eu.int/comm/enterprise/international/mras-usa-eu.htm >From here, please correct me if I'm wrong: If you are an European manufacturer and want access to US, you may take contact with an appointed CAB and they will carry out the assessment. No need to take direct contact with FCC. On the other hand, FCC have approved/appointed a lot of test labs/firms in EU. See https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/index_ie.html or https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/oet/forms/reports/Search_Form. hts?form=Test_Firms These firms are approved by FCC to carry out testing under parts 15 & 18, even though they do not have any CAB status. 1. Is it correct that a FCC listed test lab with the EU can carry out EMC testing according to FCC part 15 and a CAB makes the conformity assessment based on the testing made by the FCC listed test lab ? 2. Any idea why the EFTA countries is covered by the MRA as a part of EU? Thanks for any feedback.
