Dear All,

For a 100-240 V ac ITE system with two power inlets (one for the main power
and the other for redundancy in case of failure of the main power); what is
the best engineering and safety acceptable design method for switching
between the two circuits to ensure that disconnection of one of the inlets
is not going to cause an electrical hazard - someone may touch the pins?

By using approved relays, can solve the problem but can be very expensive.
Relays are also not approved for a 100-240 V range; they are either 120 V
rated for the US and 230V rated for Europe.

By using SCRs, I am not sure a test agency will accept "silicon" unless the
package is approved. Such approved SCR switches are widely used in UPS
systems but are very expensive.

Can you share your experiences with "redundant power input" designs and the
way test agencies interpret the 950 requirements for such designs.
