We have a need to test high voltage circuits for corona discharge. While there may be expensive test equipment available, I understand one way of testing for the discharge is to highpot the circuits to about 9 kV (that is as high as we need to test) and observe the current waveform for certain characteristics. The trick is to find a high voltage transformer that has no internal corona. I would like to hear from anyone who is performing this type or any other type of corona discharge testing with relatively inexpensive test equipment. What equipment are you using?
