And that is why teachers (good ones) should get the big bucks. These 
poor folks have a much tougher job than we ever give them credit for. They have 
to understand not only what is being taught but how things are learned, and 
which of their students learn through seeing, hearing, reading, alone, 
corroboratively etc al. Do they have any experiences that they can use to take 
in and make sense of this new knowledge, and on, and on, and on.
        Small children can only deal with concrete ideas, not abstract so they 
are very very black and white kinds of thinkers. Teenagers are hopefully moving 
into abstract thought, but they are also discovering the opposite sex, more 
personal freedom and responsibility, totally new ideas of how the world works - 
so its kind of amazing they learn anything during this. High school kids 
already know everything - just ask them - so they are a tough audience.
        Plus they have to motivate the little rascals into going along with the 
whole idea of learning anyway. Fortunately for us, when we lay down a line of 
code, or draw up a schematic, we don't have to convince this inanimate object 
to do anything, logic and physics takes care of that. Kids on the other hand 
may have other important things to do, like eating glue, staring out of the 
window etc.
        A tough, tough, job and I applauded those that do it well.

The audience are children.

Children do not even know what electricity is.

This would seem to require education in more than one topic if it is to be 
understood by the children

For example

first: what is electricity? the difference between the wall outlet, the car 
battery and the overhead power lines.

second: how does electricity travel from place to place? the concepts of 
conductors and insulators.

third: why is electricity dangerous? electric shock, what is it? is the body a 
conductor or an insulator? are some parts of it are most sensitive to damage?

fourth: why wet places and things are hazardous: water can change things from 
insulators to conductors eg wood, paper, cloth, skin.
