All Apologies for bringing up a question which I am sure has been covered many times before, but as I am looking for a quick answer I will impose on this forum rather than trawling myself.
We supply specialised industrial equipment (eg flue gas analsyers). Typical end user would be power stations, chemical plants etc. We normally do not supply mains leads for these products. Mains connection is usually via a sealed circular multipole connector, we supply the connector but not the mains cord. It has just been put to me by a salesperson that it is an EU legal requirement to supply a mains plug for our products and we "have been caught out by this before". My recollection is that the requirement for a fitted mains plug is a specific requirement of UK legislation for goods intended for domestic use. So ignoring the question of whether it is desirable from a marketing point of view etc, just considering the narrow legal requirement....Does anyone agree or disagree that a mains plug is not required for industrial goods in the EU.
