This question concerns  a NEBS and EU test setup. This is not a direct
compliance question but it supports an EUT compliance test setup.  

It appears to me that E1 and T1 systems can be extremely susceptible to
noise. I have a question concerning a T1 100 ohm balanced twisted pair cable
being used in an E1 system. The application of this T1 cable is to replace
the (hard to find) E1 120 ohm twisted pair cable to provide a transport of
data to the E1 system through a Fireberd. I notice that under this
application the Fireberd shows results of random BERs. a similar set-up
using T1 cable in a T1 system runs without BERs. It appears to me that the
T1 cable in the E1 system is noisy or there is crosstalk. When the cable is
motionless, there are usually errors but, sometimes there are not. When the
cables are moved, there are BERs and FRAME loss. Is there a large difference
between the two cables due to their different impedances creating an
impedance mismatch which produces noise or what?
