I would also like to recommend Pike & Fischer for their FCC information on
CD-ROM. When there is a lot of money riding on a product - and there always is
- the few hundred dollars for a subscription should not be an issue - although
it usually is.

The GPO books are up to 18 months out of date. This is because you can't get
them until March or so, and that will have the rules as of October of the
previous year. So, they start out about 6 months out of date, and are 18 months
out of date by the time the next edition is available.

A company I worked for was developing 5 GHz (UNII band) wireless internet
systems. The engineering was mostly done in the UK, and they had a copy of the
rules from a GPO book. I had the Pike & Fischer current rules. Fortunately I
caught on to what was happening, and saved them from an expensive trip down the
wrong rules, which had changed significantly in the previous year.

The information (rules) in what Pike & Fischer charges for, is all available
free, on the internet, somewhere or other. But the time saved by having P&F
compile it all for you into a CD is very valuable.
