Cortland, in affect majordomo turns each submitted e-mail into approximately a 1000 separate e-mails. As a result everyone on the list who has a "vacation" notice turned on, will send you a message that they are out. That is why you will get a number of them.
By the way if you take a normal day for the emc-pstc list, it means the IEEE handles about 25,000 out going emails for the emc-pstc list.
