Greetings to all, I am new to the forum and have already found it to be a great source of information sharing. I have recently procurred EN 50371 and several of the other harmonized RF exposure guidelines for the purpose of evaluating primarily Bluetooth devices. The devices I am primarily interested in right now are devices with greater than 20 cm serperation from the user and less than 20 mW output power. I believe that EN 50371 is the correct standard in this case. >From my first read, it appears that BT devices with total output power < 20 mW >are exempt from testing: (ref. section 4.1 - if avg power is < = 20 mW then apparatus deemed to comply with basic restrictions without testing) (also - if total power < 20 mW assumed that emitted power < 20 mW). In that case you would just put the standard on the list of applied standards on the Notification Letter if following Annex III route of the R&TTE Directive and would also keep some sore of declaration / evidence in the TCF. Does anyone out there have any opinions to the contrary or perhaps can verify this? I have more questions about devices that are over 20 mW and am also wondering if portable / mobile considerations come into play, but will hold off on those for another day. Best regards, William M.
