Hi Folks I have read the various replies posted to-date on the following question.
I think that most of these refer to the implications of the Product Liability Directive - and I think that is the wrong direction to take in this instance. The Directives really in question appear to be those referred to in the recent UK Statutory Instrument 2002 No. 3045 "The Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002" (see http://www.hmso.gov.uk/si/si2002/20023045.htm) The "Explanatory Note" at the end of these regulations commences by stating: "These Regulations implement Directive 1999/44/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25th May 1999 on certain aspects of the sale of consumer goods and associated guarantees, referred to below as "the Directive" (OJ No. L 171, 7.7.99, p. 12)." Read these regs and the Explanatory Note, and I think that most things will become clearer. Regards John Allen, Technical Consultant Safety & Risk Management ERA Technology Ltd.
