Hello Joe, Mass spectrometers, no matter what mass filter they use, are laboratory equipment. DNA sequencers are laboratory equipment as well, including anything used in a research laboratory that makes a measurement. From my reading of the WEEE and RoHS Directives you need to comply with the WEEE Directive but are exempt from the RoHS because the scope of the RoHS Directive does not apply to categories 8 and 9 as defined in Annex 1A of the WEEE Directive.
