Hi Listmembers!
I was recently excavating the nether regions of my hard drive, when I came upon a study that might be interesting to many of us. The document is titled: ENGINEERING PRACTICE STUDY March 2, 2001 Results Of Detailed Comparisons Of Individual EMC Requirements And Test Procedures Delineated In Major National And International Commercial Standards With Military Standard MIL-STD-461E This Engineering Practice Study (EPS) provides results of detailed comparisons of individual EMC requirements and test procedures delineated in major national and international commercial standards with military standard MIL-STD-461E. Differences in limits, frequency ranges, and test procedures are identified and their potential significance is discussed. Guidance is provided on judging the acceptability of a particular commercial standard for a specific military application. This document rigorously compares the requirements of MIL-STD-461E with the similar sections of standards such as: ANS C63.4 ANS C63.12 CISPR 11 CISPR 13 CISPR 14 CISPR 15 CISPR 16 CISPR 22 FCC R&R Part 15 RTCA D0-160D IEC 61000-3-2 IEC 61000-3-8 IEC 61000-4-5 IEC 61000-4-13 IEC 61000-6-1 IEC 61000-6-2 IEC 61000-6-3 IEC 61000-6-4 IEC 61244-1A IEC 61244-2A IEC TC 20 Canadian British German NATO NEMA IEC TC 22 IEC TC 77 SAE J1113 Well, there's many more. There are limits, procedures and setups shown. One very interesting thing is that this one document gives you a good look inside many commercial standards. Now, this isn't a substitute for buying your own full copy of a standard, but it sure is a good preview. The document is a 4.2 MB Adobe pdf file, and is a US DoD public domain document. I can send it to you as an email attachment. Just email me a request off-list (and check your mailbox size first).
