Friends, My reading of EN61010-1:2001 leaves a few questions.
What's a mains-derived circuit compared with a mains circuit? If your product employs the single-phase mains to power a commercial 24V dc supply, is that mains-connected or mains-derived? What is meant by (EN60664-3) a type A circuit coating? Is this conformal coating, applied over the typical masks/coatings of the PCB? To what degree can the PCB mask be relied on for insulation? I thought I read once that it is not considered part of the insulation system, but I can't find it in '1010-1. Is there a approved substance that can be applied to the PCB surface to enhance basic insulation? e.g., trace A (say, 24Vdc rail; accessible) is too close to trace B (say, 220Vac). A single fault could elevate this accessible line. Is the application of a surface insualtion allowable?
