Now that the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society (PSES) is official and began operation 1 January 2004, we need to have a logo (You did remember to Join the new Society when you renewed your IEEE Membership didn't you ? If not, you can easily add membership [society ID is "043-0431"] via the IEEE web site. http://www.ieee.org/renewal ) The Board Of Directors of PSES has decided to have a Logo Contest. Get out your creative mouse and design our logo. Please provide a JPG file of your creation. (half a megabyte max, 150 X 150 pixels min, 300 dpi) All logos submitted will be posted on the PSES Virtual Community ( http://www.ieeecommunities.org/emc-pstc ) web site for voting by the membership. The top 10 finalist will be requested to resubmit their logo in TIFF format for the final vote, which will then include members of the BOD. The winner will be requested to provide their logo in the source format for high-quality reproduction.
Why should you try to be creative you ask? The Winner of the contest will receive a prize. That prize will be free registration to the "First Annual IEEE PSES Symposium" which will be held later this year (oops let the cat out of the bag). At the Symposium you will assist with the introduction of the logo. Please submit your jpg file by February 1, 2004 to the following address: [email protected] . I will confirm receipt of each and every entry to make sure none are lost in the process. Voting then begins through the virtual community on Feb 02, 2004 with final selection by February 15, 2004. We need a logo for the symposium, letterhead, websites, banners, etc. (symposium details to be announced soon). The winning logo will become the property of the IEEE and the IEEE-PSES.
