Some members of the emc-pstc list are not able to read e-mails sent
by some of our list members. To help resolve the issue we need to know
how many of you are having the issue. Those of you who are either having
the issue, or meet any of the conditions listed below, please send Rich
and myself an e-mail (not to the emc-pstc list, just Rich and myself)
informing us that you are having the issue or meet the conditions below.
Issue is: Some e-mails from the list are blank or only have
the footer with no other text.
Cause is: e-mail was sent in none ASCII / Plain Text format,
and the recipients IT staff filters out all HTML or rtf e-mail
content on their incoming e-mail servers for security reasons.
We would like to know who meets any one of the following conditions:
1. You get blank e-mails from the emc-pstc list
2. You use a e-mail client software that is plain text (non HTML)
3. You are on low speed dial up connections (less than 28k)
Everyone Please Note:
1. Please make sure that you have set your e-mail client to
ASCII / Plain Text when sending to the emc-pstc list.
2. We have found that some IT departments have set their outgoing
servers to force all out going e-mail to be HTML, overriding the user
settings. When replying to any e-mail from the emc-pstc list, make sure
to confirm you are replying in ASCII / Plain Text. If replying to a
e-mail that was sent to the list in HTML, your reply will be in HTML even
if you have your client set correctly. In such a case you will need to
change the reply to ASCII / Plain Text before sending. This will help
some of our list members read all of the posts to the list.
