Greetings, 1. Is there a standard that shows how to properly measure Inrush Current? How about Startup Currents from large motor devices?
2. For products that have a complex current draw over long cycles (maybe 2 hours long), is there a measuring device that will simply monitor the AC line and give us detailed information about inrush currents, startup currents, steady-state currents, etc.? Any recommendations? The produces we design and manufacture have complex power requirements over a long period of time. There are electronics, heaters, and motors (pumps) that are turned on and off at various stages of a test cycle. We want to be able to accurately measure the current characteristics of our products so to properly choose the size and type of overcurrent protection device (fuse or circuit breakers) as well as recommend the proper building circuit and protection to our customers.
