Dear Colleagues,

According to the its SCOPE and OBJECT, EN60215:

        1. Is applicable to RADIO TRANSMITTING EQUIPMENT ...OPERATING under
the RESPONSIBILITY of SKILLED PERSONNEL. (only).

        2. It CANNOT be applied to any Class II equipment...and, as well,

        3. does not cover ALL the HAZARDS that must be covered by an
electrical safety evaluation;

In my opinion, it is recommended to be used in conjunction with a 60950, or
a 60065, etc., Standard.

EN60215 offers an interesting terminology: for Class II equipment, and for
the "skilled personnel"...(in my opinion, not a very clear one...)

In my opinion, it can not be compared (and it does not compete) with any
other Standard;
Since EN60950 is an Electrical Safety Standard, it cannot be superseded by
any EN 301 489-1,3...

My opinions only,

Respectfully yours,
Constantin

Peter,

You are quite right. EN60215 is listed and can be used, but does not have to
be.
It is only my personal opinion that EN60215 is not a very good standard. It
is nowhere near as comprehensive as EN60950.

Best regards

Neil Barker

Neil -

EN60215 is notified in the OJ as required to satisfy the
RTTE Dir. Even if EN60950 applies, so will EN60215. If I'm
mistaken, please let me know.
