Frank, EN 301 489-1,3 relates to EMC, not safety, so does not supersede EN60950. I agree that the Low Voltage Directive applies. That's a requirement of the R&TTE Directive, which applies the LVD without lower voltage limit. I still think that EN60950 is the most suitable standard for low power equipment, and I did say that it was only my personal opinion that EN60215 is not a very good standard. I apologise to any list members who are on the 60215 committee, but that is what I think.

However, in my opinion EN60215 is a very inadequate standard and certainly not evidence of best-practice safety engineering. For most low power radio equipment I would apply EN 60950. I think that you will find that most of the applicable ETSI standards will require this. Best regards, Neil R. Barker C.Eng. Does anyone know if there is a lower RF power limit in this standard where the standard does not apply?
