Jon,
IEC61010 refers to IEC60950 and in general you can accept a power supply
approved to IEC60950 with the same pollution degree and over voltage
category. IEC60950 has over voltage category I, II, III (Annex G) that is
named Installation category in IEC61010.
The IEC61010 spacing allows reduced spacing for PCB boards. Therefore, the
spacing requirements are less strengthens compared to IEC60950.

Ian,
Legally, probably yes. However, your choice of harmonised standard for the
power supply may be called into question unless the operating environment
of
the gas monitor is within the bounds of the minimum operating environment
specified in EN60950.
One of the main differences between EN60950 and EN61010-1 is the range of
operating environments and installation categories specified in EN61010-1.
EN60950 really does not make any provision for Pollution Degree or
Installation Category. I would try to set out a case that shows that
EN60950
meets the requirements for this particular instrument (as detailed in the
published specification)and document that case as part of your safety
documentation. If you cannot make the case, then you have answered your own
question.

Subject: Electrical safety of power supplies
Group,
We have a small, stand alone mains to DC power supply tested/certified to
IEC 60950. Can this be legally used to power equipment (small portable/desk
top gas monitor) tested/certified to IEC 61010-1 without any further
testing/certification?
Many thanks in anticipation of your help
Ian Unwin
